- 4 c. dry split peas
- 2 quarts. water
- 2 c. chicken stock
- 1 lg. onion, minced
- 1 c. celery, minced
- 1 c. carrot, minced
- 1 lg. bay leaf
- 1/4 teaspoon thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon marjoram
- 3 springs parsley, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt (or possibly more)
- 1 to 2 c. sliced Polish sausage

- Wash split peas; drain. In large pot put all ingredients; bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 2 hrs. Stir often to prevent sticking. Remove bay leaf before serving.
- Note: Add in more water or possibly broth if desired a thinner soup.
