  • 1 lb Round, shoulder, or possibly chuck steak
  •     Cut 1-inch thick
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 c. Boiling water
  • 1/3 c. Cooking fat
  •     Flour

  1. Rub meat with salt. Lb. all the flour possible into the steak. Sear in warm fat. Add in water. Cover. Simmer slowly till meat is tender. If you like, 1 c. tomatoes may be substituted for the water, or possibly 1/2 c. water may be used with the browned steak, and 1 c. lowfat sour cream added 30 min before the cooking is completed. 4 servings.
