,%20throwing%20on%20a%20few%20nicely%20seasoned%20pieces%20of%20meat,%20grabbing%20a%20drink,%20and%20spending%20time%20with%20friends%20and%20family.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20fate%20has%20determined%20it,%20this%20year%20will%20be%20slightly%20different%20for%20me.%20I%20mentioned%20in%20a%20previous%20post%20that%20I%20recently%20left%20my%20job%20at%20the%20restaurant%20in%20search%20of%20my%20next%20adventure.%20When%20I%20initially%20set%20my%20mind%20to%20leaving%20the%20restaurant,%20I%20wasn't%20quite%20sure%20where%20life%20would%20lead%20me.%20Then%20one%20day%20I%20saw%20a%20posting%20for%20a%20job%20working%20in%20the%20kitchen%20at%20a%20summer%20camp%20in%20Pennsylvania.%20I%20applied%20on%20a%20whim%20thinking%20that%20it%20could%20be%20a%20fun%20nine%20weeks.%20Lo%20and%20behold%20here%20I%20am.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20about%20a%20week%20and%20a%20half%20of%20fun-employment%20between%20gigs.%20The%20first%20couple%20of%20days%20were%20great!%20But%20around%20day%20three%20I%20got%20bored%20and%20had%20no%20clue%20what%20to%20do%20with%20myself.%20I%20hadn't%20had%20that%20much%20time%20off%20in%20over%20two%20years.%20And%20after%20not%20cooking%20or%20chopping%20anything%20for%20a%20period%20longer%20than%20a%20night's%20rest%20my%20hands%20were%20itching%20to%20get%20into%20some%20food.%20One%20of%20my%20projects%20that%20day%20was%20the%20already%20blogged%20about%20lavender%20and%20coriander%20pickles.%20The%20rest%20of%20the%20day%20was%20spent%20making%20a%20simple%20slaw%20(red%20and%20green%20cabbage,%20vinegar,%20salt,%20and%20sugar),%20balsamic%20roasted%20carrots%20(balsamic%20vinegar,%20olive%20oil,%20salt,%20and%20pepper),%20and%20these%20whiskey%20maple%20grilled%20pork%20chops.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhiskey%20Maple%20Grilled%20Pork%20Chops%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EProcedure:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20plastic%20freezer%20bag,%20or%20other%20suitable%20container,%20combine%20whiskey,%20syrup,%20mustard,%20and%20seasonings.%20Add%20pork%20chops%20and%20toss%20to%20coat.%20Let%20marinate%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20for%20one%20hour%20(or%20longer%20if%20time%20permits).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20up%20your%20grill%20(pan).%20To%20get%20the%20cross-hatches%20(or%20quadrillage),%20rotate%20the%20meat%2045%CB%9A%20(or%20so)%20after%202-3%20minutes%20before%20flipping%20over%20and%20repeating%20on%20the%20other%20side.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20pork%20is%20done%20once%20the%20meat%20is%20somewhat%20firm,%20but%20no%20where%20near%20rock%20hard.%20Remove%20from%20heat%20and%20let%20rest%20for%2010-15%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPeople%20are%20always%20asking%20my%20what%20my%20plans%20are%20for%20after%20the%20summer.%20My%20answer?%20I%20don't%20really%20know.%20Yesterday%20I%20applied%20for%20what%20is%20quite%20possibly%20my%20dream%20job%20for%20this%20stage%20in%20my%20career/life%E2%80%94but%20nothing%20is%20ever%20guaranteed.%20Nonetheless%20I'll%20keep%20my%20fingers%20crossed%20and%20saying%20my%20prayers%20for%20the%20right%20job%20to%20come%20along%20that%20is%20destined%20to%20be%20mine.%20Until%20then%20I'll%20keep%20cooking,%20baking,%20grilling,%20and%20enjoying%20my%20freedom.%20Happy%20Fourth!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
