  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F
  2. Line an 8-inch shallow cake pan with waxed paper
  3. Grease the paper with a little butter.
  4. Place the butter, molasses, and sugar in a pan set over low heat
  5. Cook, stirring constantly, until melted and thoroughly combined
  6. Remove the pan from the heat
  7. Stir in the rolled oats and salt
  8. Spoon into the prepared cake pan
  9. Smooth the surface
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden
  11. Leave in the pan until cool enough to handle
  12. Unmold and cut into eight equal wedges while still hot.
