Ингредиенты
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups sifted pastry flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. lemon zest
- 1/2 tsp. lemon extract
- 1 cup milk
- Filling;
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 5 tbsp. cornstarch
- 3/4 cup water
- 3 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/'2 tsp. lemon zest
- 1 tbsp butter
Инструкции
- Cake;
- Preheat oven to 350 F
- cream shortening & sugar, & beat the eggs in
- til smooth & light.
- Sift the dry ingredients & mix in alternately
- with the milk.
- Stir in lemon zest.
- Bake in two greased & floured layer pans
- for 25 - 30 min.
- Cool & fill with lemon filling & plain butter icing
- Filling;
- Blend sugar & cornstarch & stir in the water til smooth
- Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly,
- til thick & smooth.
- Remove from heat & add remaining ingredients stirring
- til butter is melted.
- Cool & fill layer cake ( can also use as frosting)
