Ingredients: 1 c. Lard; 563/1000 c. Sugar; 1 c. Buttermilk; 563/1000 tsp Baking soda; 1 tsp Salt; 1 tsp Nutmeg; 1 x Heaping tsp. baking pwdr; 3 c. Flour (or possibly sufficient flour to make a soft dough that will hold together for rolling)

1 c. Lard
563/1000 c. Sugar
1 c. Buttermilk
563/1000 tsp Baking soda
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Nutmeg
1 x Heaping tsp. baking pwdr
3 c. Flour (or possibly sufficient flour to make a soft dough that will hold together for rolling)

Heat lard; then cold till lukewarm. Sift all dry ingredients together. Add in lard to dry ingredients. Add in buttermilk. Mix well. Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness on floured board. Cut large round cookies. Cook till brown, about 12 min.
