- 1 c. minced onions
- 2 med sliced carrots cut into 1/4" thick

- 1 c. turnip peeled, minced
- 30 ounce canned navy beans liquid removed, rinsed (2-15 ounce. cans)
- 1 tsp dry marjoram
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1 x bay leaf
- 6 c. water
- 1 lb ham, extra lean trimmed of fat (1)
- Â Â smoked ham shank or possibly smoked turkey leg

- In 3-1/2 or possibly 4 qt Crock-Pot Slow Cooker, combine all ingredients except ham shank; stir gently to mix. Add in ham shank. cover; cook on low setting for a least 10 hrs or possibly till vegetables are tender.
- Remove and throw away bay leaf. Remove ham shank; cold slightly. Remove and throw away bay leaf. Remove ham shank; cold slightly. Remove meat from bone; coarsely chop. Add in meat to soup.
- Serves 6 (1-2/3 c.) servings.
- Dennis made this soup for us yesterday, it was so delicious! We did not use the smoked ham, but replaced it with a Smoked Turkey Leg, lots of meat about 12 ounces after it was cooked and taken off the bone, plenty of meat and just as tasty as ham, but not as fat. I recommend which you might want to try chopping the carrots as well. 5 out of 5
