- Microwave Oven Directions: Wash, peel and trim carrots. Check weight on a kitchen scale. Carrots may be left whole or possibly cut into circles, sticks or possibly dice. Place carrots in a glass dish and cover top of dish with plastic wrap. Cook to a tender-crisp stage on high setting in microwave oven: 7 min per lb.. For soft-cooked carrots, cook on a high setting 2 min, lower setting to medium and cook 10 min longer.
- Conventional Directions: Prepare carrots as directed above. Place carrots in a saucepan with 1 inch boiling salt water. Cook, covered, till tender (about 30 min). Drain and serve.
