- 1 lb dry split peas rinsed, liquid removed,
- Â Â and picked over
- 7 c. water divided
- 2 med carrots sliced
- 2 x celery ribs minced fine
- 2 x garlic cloves chopped
- 1 lb lean ham cut 2" cubes
- 1 pkt Lipton's dry onion soup mix
- 1 x bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp dry thyme leaves
- Â Â Salt to taste
- Â Â Freshly-grnd black pepper to taste
Инструкции
- Soak peas in 4 c. water overnight. Add in the peas and soaking liquid along with the vegetables and the ham to a saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat; reduce heat and cook at a brisk simmer for 5 min.
- Pour into a 3 1/2 quart slow cooker with the remaining 3 c. water, soup mix, bay leaf and thyme. Cover and cook on LOW till the peas are tender, 7 to 8 hrs.
- This recipe yields 4 servings.
