%20and%20eating%20a%20lot%20of%20my%20mom's%20yummy%20meals%20and%20I%20don't%20want%20it%20to%20end%20and%20looking%20forward%20to%20more%20fun.%20But%20then%20comes%20something%20I%E2%80%99m%20least%20looking%20forward%20to%20%231)%20My%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eparents%20returning%20back%20to%20India%20and%20%232)%20Sending%20lil%E2%80%99Appu%20back%20to%20daycare.%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eeven%20want%20to%20discuss%20these%202%20topics%20at%20the%20moment%E2%80%A6%20*sigh*%20:-(%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToday,%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20really%20sharing%20any%20recipe%20as%20such%20but%20a%20very%20simple%20and%20totally%20nostalgic%20Indian%20snack%20with%20fresh%20Cucumbers.%20Most%20of%20you%20know%20by%20now%20about%20my%20dad%E2%80%99s%20beautiful%20veggie%20garden%20that%E2%80%99s%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Etreating%20us%20with%20its%20bounty%20full%20of%20ripened%20veggies%20and%20we%20are%20literally%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Efeasting%20on%20them%20lately.%20This%20weekend%20we%20decided%20to%20pick%20up%20several%20of%20the%20ripened%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecucumbers.%20It%20was%20a%20hot%20sunny%20day%20and%20almost%20time%20for%20evening%20Tea%20and%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eminute%20we%20saw%20the%20juicy,%20ripe%20and%20beautiful%20cucumbers%20we%20wanted%20to%20have%20it%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Einstantly%20and%20forgot%20all%20about%20Tea%20:-)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELil'Appu%20enjoys%20helping%20with%20plucking%20the%20veggies%20and%20carrying%20them%20back%20to%20the%20kitchen.%20Well,%20sometimes%20he%20thinks%20we%20gave%20him%20a%20new%20toy%20:-)%20And%20he%20really%20loves%20eating%20cucumber.%20We%20plucked%204%20large%20cucumbers%20btw....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20I%20started%20washing,%20peeling%20and%20slicing%20them%20up%20into%20quarters%20and%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Emy%20mom%20grabbed%20some%20and%20stared%20munching%20immediately.%20That%E2%80%99s%20when%20I%20remembered%20a%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecertain%20street%20food%20that%20I%20have%20really%20enjoyed%20while%20I%20lived%20in%20India,%20Bangalore%20to%20be%20precise.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%E2%80%99s%20such%20a%20common%20scene%20there%20to%20see%20chaatwaalas%20pushing%20their%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecarts%20around%20laden%20with%20veggies%20like%20cucumbers,%20raw%20mangoes,%20fresh%20limes%20etc%20and%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Efruits%20like%20pineapple%20,%20papaya,%20watermelon,%20oranges%20etc%20and%20ofcourse%20other%20types%20of%20chaat%20and%20they%20serve%20these%20veggies/fruits%20by%20simply%20sprinkling%20on%20some%20salt%20and%20red%20chilly%20powder%20%20or%20some%20chaat%20masala%20and%20may%20I%20say,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eits%20broadens%20the%20taste%20of%20these%20fruits%20and%20veggies%20to%20a%20different%20level?%20Yes,%20it%20does!!%20(The%20red%20chilly%20powder%20is%20mostly%20for%20the%20veggies)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20after%20a%20memory%20flash-wave,%20I%20decided%20to%20do%20the%20same%20for%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eamount%20of%20red%20chili%20powder%20as%20per%20your%20taste.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20tried%20the%20same%20with%20Salt%20and%20Black%20Pepper%20powder%20and%20I%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Emust%20say%20it%20did%20not%20taste%20all%20that%20great%20as%20how%20it%20does%20with%20red%20chilli%20powder.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20aren%E2%80%99t%20very%20keen%20on%20using%20red%20chilli%20powder,%20try%20with%20Paprika.%20It%20might%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Etone%20down%20the%20spice%20but%20seal%20in%20all%20the%20flavors%20for%20this%20simple,%20lipsmacking%20and%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Emust%20I%20say%20%E2%80%98Healthy%E2%80%99%20snack.%20%20Or%20else%20another%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eoption%20would%20be%20to%20use%20Chaat%20masala.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20din't%20know%20what%20exactly%20this%20was%20called%20so%20I'm%20just%20calling%20it%20an%20Indian%20style%20cucumber%20chaat!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIndian%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStyle%20fresh%20Cucumber%20chaat%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFresh%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECucumbers%20%E2%80%93%203%20or%204%20or%20more%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERed%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChilli%20powder/Paprika%20%E2%80%93%201%20tsp%20(use%20as%20needed)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20%20Wash,%20peel%20and%20cut%20up%20the%20cucumbers%20into%20halves%20first%20and%20then%20each%20half%20into%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Equarters.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20%20Moisten%20your%20fingertip%20slightly%20(just%20rub%20your%20fingertip%20over%20the%20cucumber%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eslices)%20and%20mildly%20press%20into%20some%20salt%20and%20red%20chilli%20powder%20(or%20one%20at%20a%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Etime)%20and%20rub%20them%20over%20the%20cucumber%20slices.%20Enjoy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20%20Substitute%20red%20chilli%20powder%20with%20Chaat%20masala%20powder%20if%20the%20spice%20level%20doesn%E2%80%99t%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Esuit%20you.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20even%20had%20this%20for%20my%20morning%20breakfast%20today,%20ya%20I%E2%80%99m%20just%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ethat%20crazy%20about%20it.%20We%20have%20several%20more%20Cucumbers%20left%20and%20I%20already%20know%20what%E2%80%99s%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ein%20future%20for%20them.%20So,%20do%20you%20want%20to%20try%20some%20and%20get%20your%20tastebuds%20flowing?%20:-)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHave%20a%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Elovely%20Summer%20everyone!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
