  1. In small bowl beat one large egg with one Tbsp. of lowfat milk. Set aside. Preheat oven to 350 F. Lightly grease two 16-inch by 14-inch baking sheets. Combine flour, sugar, baking pwdr, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Add in zest, morsels and raisins, mix well. Incorporate butter into the dry ingredients with your hands or possibly large fork till the mix resembles course crumbs. In small bowl whisk together buttermilk, extract and Large eggs. Stir buttermilk mix into dry ingredients. Form a sticky dough. Don't overmix. Drop 1/4 c. of dough onto baking sheet. Brush with egg wash. Bake for 20 min or possibly till a toothpick comes out clean from center of scone. Cold on rack.
  2. Makes 24 scones.
  3. Icing:2 C. powdered sugar1/2 zest of one orange4 teaspoon orange juice1 teaspoon orange extract
  4. Combine all ingredients and mix till smooth. When scones are still slightly hot, spread on icing and let dry
