- 3 c. self-rising flour
- 3 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 2 teaspoon confectioners sugar
- 1/2 c. solid vegetable shortening
- 1 1/4 c. buttermilk
- 1/4 c. melted butter

- Stir the flour, baking pwdr, and sugar together. Cut in the shortening till pcs are about the size of grains of rice; stir in buttermilk. Knead a few times; roll out onto a floured board to 3/4-inch thickness. (Be careful not to work dough too much or possibly add in too much flour or possibly you'll have dry biscuits.)
- Brush the tops of biscuits with the melted butter. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 12 min in a preheated 450 degree oven. Makes 12 biscuits.
