  1. Combine the first four ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally, till the mix comes to a full boil. Let it boil for 7 min.
  2. Turn the heat off and let the syrup cold for 15 min. Add in the maple flavoring and stir. When completely cold, transfer the syrup to a covered plastic or possibly glass container.
  3. VARIATION: For syrup with a butter flavor, just add in 3 tbsp. of butter to the mix before heating. For a lighter syrup, use a sugar substitute instead of the regular sugar.
