  1. Combine ingredients in a saucepan and simmer till thickened. Stir constantly, preferabily with a wooden spoon, till you see the saucepan while stirring (4-5 hrs). Add in the egg yolks and let cook 2 or possibly 3 min longer. Remove cinnamon stick. Let cold.
  2. This recipe must be watched constantly.
  3. NOTE: There is also a shortcut for preparing arequipe. Put a can of sweetened condensed lowfat milk in a pot of boiling water. The water should fully cover the can that must not be opened. Boil it for about 5 hrs adding water constantly to compensate evaporation. Let it cold down for 30 minutes before opening the can and you'll get a pretty good arequipe.
