Обо мне
Happily married, mother of a son, age 9, living in Northern California Bay Area.
Grew up in Eastern Pennsylvania in the Irish American tradition of meat and potatoes every night. I never saw or knew things like avocados, bell peppers, mangoes, Thai food, star fruit, never even had Chinese or Mexican takeout! I stopped eating beef when I was 16 - just couldn't take it anymore. I do enjoy chicken and fish but would rather choose a beautiful vegetarian plate or soup instead.
Moved to San Francisco in 1990 and stayed until 2003. I thought I had hit the jackpot and arrived in food heaven! We treated cooking and eating out like an Olympic sport.
I guess I'm more a cook then a baker. I like to bake, I'm just not good at it. Not enough practice maybe.
I look back on my cooking disasters and can laugh. I still love to pass time reading cookbooks. I have my son help in the kitchen all the time and I'm overjoyed that he's having fun doing so. I especially love watching him make the "messes".
Кулинарное влияние
First cooking experience: Jello parfaits multicolored, tilted in the fridge, age 7. Saw the TV commercial and jut had to make it.
Wasn't allowed to cook anything else b/c mom didn't like the "messes".
Decided to cook anyway.
I remember watching Julia Child's show and thought is was really cool.
I remember the "Frugal Gourmet" show and enjoyed the worldwide experience but the host was certainly an ......interesting dude.
Jacques Pepin is a Super Hero.
Worked in gourmet beach deli, learned a ton - all preparation basics, portions, seasoning, safety, cleanliness, also loved the slicer - I don't know why.
Worked in popular, fun, beach deli, learned to work really fast.
Worked for upscale catering co., learned to make it all look really pretty.
Now cook for friends and family, love a challenge.

- 08 февраля 2010You just described my childhood too! I was never allowed to cook, and my mom only coked a few dishes. Never had a tortilla chip till I was 13, mexican till i was in my twenties, let alone any other type of food. We did get Chinese once in a while, but only moo goo gi pan (sp?) i was never allowed to order for myself.
