Обо мне
Hi! I moved to Avanos, Nevsehir, Turkey January 2008 after meeting a special person on the internet 4 or 5 years ago. I came to visit the year before I moved and descided to make a change.
I am the only person that speaks English with my immediate group. Books and Turing help alot. After a year though I am pretty good with my Turkish.
The cooking is a challenge though, they do not use the same ingredients we do. They use alot of mixes, like soup and vanilla and baking powder. They cook the same vegetables, but differently. I have had to get use to the ingredients and also how to serve the Turkish meals. The people are wonderful here. They have taught me alot about how they cook.
Кулинарное влияние
My Grandmother and Mother and her sisters were excellent cooks. We had a cook
Eva that helped us learn how to cook the Southern way. I have had alot of Italian and Mexican friends and they have taught me their ways. I hate to follow a recepie so I usually do not follow one to a tee.

- 16 апреля 2010Merhaba Alice,
I would love to hear more about your experiences in Turkey. I am Turkish-American, born in the States, but lived in Turkey as well. My parents came to the U.S. in the early 70's. Turkey is a great place, so much history! I would love to share recipes with you. - 11 марта 2009Which Turkish food do you like? I thought I liked it until I moved here. A lot of repetition, so you get tired of it. They eat bread 1 to 3 loaves each at a meal.
I moved here last year in January. I am in the middle area that is a big tourist area. Avanos, Nevsehire, Turkey. I miss the aged beef in the US,
I love the people, they are alot like the southern people in the US, where I am from in South Carolina. This is a very rural area, not many automobiles. Alot of Hetite pottery and rugs. This area sees 150 to 200 tourist buses a day most days. I have even seen people from Iran here. Did know they went anywhere.
Let me hear from you.
I can send you some receipes, let me know what you like the best. - 11 марта 2009Glad you joined, Alice! Are you really living in Turkey? Turkish food is near the very top of my favorites list. Hope you'll share a few great recipes with us!
