Well, hello again! I've been missing in action since last weekend. Sorry! At last, it's Friday and can try to post some recipes for you. The weather across the United States has been all over the place. While my girlfriend, in Rhode Island has been telling tales of miserable heat and humidity, and extreme weather changes to rain-- well, we folks on the Central Coast of California hadn't seen sun in weeks. Suddenly, we had a heat weave that hit triple digits for two days. My tomatoes were happy little campers!
Just the week before, I had all kinds of little green tomatoes...

.%20%20I%20turned%20off%20the%20heat%20and%20added%20these%20beautiful%20yellow%20pear%20tomatoes.%20%20%20Then%20I%20paused,%20and%20went%20back%20into%20the%20garden...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E...and%20I%20grabbed%20some%20cherry%20tomatoes%20that%20were%20so%20ripe,%20some%20of%20the%20skins%20were%20already%20splitting.%20%20These%20were%20added%20to%20the%20mix.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20some%20leftover%20white%20wine%20(sauvignon%20blanc),%20so%20I%20added%20that%20(about%201/4%20cup).%20I%20popped%20the%20skillet%20into%20the%20oven,%20next%20to%20some%20chicken%20breasts%20that%20I%20was%20roasting.%20%20(You%20could%20certainly%20cook%20these%20on%20the%20stove%20top%20if%20you%20choose%20to.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAbout%2015%20minutes%20later,%20the%20tomatoes%20looked%20roasted%20to%20perfection.%20%20I%20set%20the%20skillet%20on%20very%20low%20heat,%20to%20let%20the%20wine%20finish%20reducing.%20%20These%20were%20so%20fragrant,%20I%20wish%20I%20had%20cooked%20some%20Angel%20Hair%20Pasta!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EVERDICT:%20%20Amazing!%20%20My%20taste%20buds%20said%20%22sweet%22,%20%22savory%22,%20%22mildly%20garlicky%22%20and%20%22dee-licious!%20%20%20I%20so%20will%20make%20this%20again,%20as%20a%20pasta.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAbout%20that%20chicken%20that%20I%20mentioned%20was%20roasting%20in%20the%20oven--%20I%20was%20contacted%20by%20Susan%20Eriksen,%20%22AKA%20Mrs.%20Char%20Crust%22.%20%20Susan%20offered%20to%20send%20a%20few%20of%20her%20special%20rub%20blends%20for%20me%20to%20try.%20%20As%20promised,%20I%20received%20an%20three%20different%20Char%20Crust%20blends%20to%20try.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20just%20purchased%20two%20beautiful%20air-chilled,%20free-range%20chicken%20breasts%20(bone-in)%20at%20Whole%20Foods%20(which%20is%20where%20I%20can%20also%20buy%20this%20product.%20%20I%20decided%20to%20try%20the%20Roasted%20Garlic%20Peppercorn%20flavor.%20This%20rubbed%20is%20described%20as:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESavory%20roasted%20garlic%20and%20fresh%20cracked%20peppercorns%20make%20music%20in%20your%20mouth.%20With%20added%20lilt%20of%20worcestershire%20and%20lavender,%20this%20symphonic%20sensation%20creates%20a%20crescendo%20of%20flavor%20with%20steak,%20lamb,%20fish%20(especially%20salmon),%20and%20roasted%20potatoes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESold!%20%20Of%20course,%20I%20had%20to%20let%20me%20nose%20explore%20the%20different%20ingredients%20in%20this%20rub.%20%20Wow!%20%20After%20patting%20the%20chicken%20dry,%20I%20did%20just%20what%20I%20was%20supposed%20to%20do--%20I%20rubbed%20it%20generously%20all%20over.%20%20Using%20my%20second%20cast%20iron%20skillet,%20I%20decided%20to%20sear%20the%20chicken,%20starting%20skin%20side%20down.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAbout%204%20minutes%20later,%20I%20flipped%20each%20breast%20over.%20%20Very%20nice,%20I%20thought!%20%20The%20skin%20is%20not%20burned%20at%20all.%20It's%20the%20rub,%20which%20was%20very%20fragrant.%20%20I%20roasted%20the%20breast%20for%20about%2018%20minutes,%20checking%20that%20the%20temperature%20reached%20about%20170F.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20I%20let%20the%20chicken%20rest%20for%20about%2010%20minutes.%20Now,%20for%20the%20moment%20of%20truth...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20was%20losing%20natural%20light,%20so%20these%20photos%20aren't%20as%20detailed%20as%20I'd%20like.%20I%20can%20tell%20you%20that%20the%20chicken%20was%20very%20juicy.%20%20I%20give%20credit%20to%20a%20few%20things.%20Using%20chicken%20that%20is%20bone-in,%20I%20am%20convinced,decreases%20the%20chances%20of%20ending%20up%20with%20dried%20out%20chicken%20breast%20meat.%20%20It%20was%20cooked%20just%20the%20right%20amount%20of%20time,%20too,%20by%20watching%20the%20temperature%20and%20then%20letting%20it%20rest.%20%20The%20trademark%20claim%20on%20Char%20Crust%20products%20is%20%22Seals%20in%20the%20Juices%22,%20and%20I%20have%20to%20agree!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EVERDICT:%20%20There%20are%20a%20lot%20of%20flavors%20working%20in%20harmony%20with%20this%20delicious%20rub%20seasoning.%20At%20first,%20I%20thought%20I%20tasted%20sage.%20I%20read%20the%20ingredient%20label,%20and%20I%20was%20wrong.%20%20Maybe%20it's%20the%20combo%20of%20Worcestershire%20and%20soy,%20herbs,%20garlic%20and%20other%20spices--%20who%20knows?%20We%20both%20liked%20the%20chicken%20very%20much.%20%20Thank%20you,%20Char%20Crust%20for%20letting%20me%20try%20this%20product.%20I%20have%20made%20a%20few%20other%20recipes,%20which%20I%20will%20try%20to%20share%20throughout%20the%20coming%20week.%20%20This%20product%20is%20a%20great%20way%20to%20make%20plain%20chicken%20come%20to%20life%20with%20flavor%20and%20lots%20of%20juiciness!%20Oh,%20I%20will%20also%20be%20announcing%20a%20giveaway%20where%20you%20can%20receive%20Char%20Crust%20samples%20to%20try%20for%20yourself.%20Soon...%20very%20soon!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20next%20recipe%20I'll%20be%20sharing%20with%20you%20involves%20figs.%20%20Wow,%20was%20this%20dessert%20great%20with%20this%20very%20dinner%20I%20just%20shared%20with%20you.%20Coming%20up%20this%20weekend%20(I%20hope)!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWishing%20all%20of%20you%20a%20wonderful%20we
