- 3/4 c. Crisco (melted)
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 2 c. flour
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 2 c. oatmeal (dry)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla

- Layers:
- 1. Blend shortening, brown sugar and vanilla.
- 2. Sift flour and soda; mix with oatmeal.
- 3. Blend dry ingredients with brown sugar mix (work with hands).
- 4. Press half of this mix on bottom of a greased 9 x 13 inch pan.
- 5. Add in filling. Press other half of oatmeal mix lightly on top.
- 6. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 min, or possibly till slightly brown.
