It’s nearly 2014.
How on earth did that happen?
It seems like just yesterday, it was 1998. We were naïve young newlyweds whose eyes were blinded by love and filled with hope for an unknown future.
Now, 15 years later, we still feel like newlyweds. Our dreams are still big, and we still carry that burning blaze of hope in our hearts.
What that means is that, here in 2013, we’ve got an awful lot to be grateful for.
Here’s our top ten list, in no particular order.
LITTLE BLESSINGS: We’re thankful for friendly smiles, foraged ramps gathered and made into pesto in the spring, the flowers and wine friends bring to dinner, the joy of being together and stolen time used to can tomatillo salsa.

.%20We%E2%80%99re%20especially%20grateful%20for%20the%20prayers.%20And%20the%20love.%20And%20yes%20%E2%80%93%20the%20big%20hugs%20that%20came%20when%20we%20needed%20them%20most.%20You%20all%20know%20who%20you%20are.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBUTTERY%20GOODNESS:%20Our%20hands%20are%20still%20greasy,%20thanks%20to%20a%20renewed%20contract%20for%20recipe%20development%20with%20the%20American%20Butter%20Institute.%20Currently,%20we%E2%80%99re%20working%20on%20perfecting%20recipes%20for%20weeknight%20chicken%20and%20dumplings%20and%20homemade%20granola%20bars.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHEALING:%20A%20nasty%20fall%20down%20the%20basement%20stairs%20in%20June%20had%20Paul%20in%20a%20cast%20for%20nearly%2012%20weeks%20this%20summer.%20Grateful%20he%20healed%20well%20and%20no%20surgery%20was%20necessary.%20Also%20super%20grateful%20for%20our%20lovely%20neighbor%20who%20mowed%20the%20lawn%20ALL%20summer!%20Thank%20you%20so%20much,%20Doug!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECHEESE%20COMAS:%20After%20getting%20a%20great%20deal%20on%20cheese%20at%20the%20American%20Cheese%20Society%20Conference%20in%20July%20(Paul%E2%80%99s%20bum%20ankle%20in%20tow),%20we%20threw%20an%20amazing%20cheese%20tasting%20party%20featuring%20over%2050%20different%20cheeses%20made%20in%20the%20U.S.%20Grateful%20for%20the%20opportunity%20to%20indulge%20our%20senses%20in%20all%20that%20fromage,%20and%20thankful%20for%20all%20the%20brave%20friends%20who%20joined%20in%20on%20the%20fun%20and%20helped%20us%20put%20a%20dent%20in%2060%20pounds%20of%20delicious%20dairy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECOCKTAIL%20WEEK:%20%20We%20were%20privileged%20to%20be%20one%20of%20the%20organizations%20at%20the%20helm%20of%20Milwaukee%E2%80%99s%20first%20ever%20Cocktail%20Week%20this%20past%20September.%20%20It%20was%20a%20whirlwind%20of%20great%20food%20and%20artful%20cocktails.%20And%20it%20made%20us%20proud%20of%20our%20city%20and%20the%20talent%20harbored%20here%20%E2%80%93%20both%20in%20the%20food%20and%20cocktail%20industries.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EENTREPRENEURSHIP:%20We%20were%20blessed%20with%20the%20resources%20(including%20two%20investors)%20to%20launch%20our%20very%20own%20company,%20which%20we%20named%20From%20Milwaukee%20with%20Love.%20%20The%20web%20site%20launched%20on%20December%201,%20and%20we%20now%20spend%20our%20free%20time%20shipping%20awesome%20little%20boxes%20of%20love%20(artisan%20foods%20made%20here%20in%20Milwaukee)%20across%20the%20country.%20%20Visit%20us%20at%20frommilwaukeewithlove.com.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20POTENTIAL%20BOOK%20DEAL:%20Thanks%20to%20all%20of%20her%20freelancing,%20Lori%20landed%20her%20first%20ever%20book%20offer%20from%20a%20small%20indie%20publisher%20in%20South%20Carolina.%20They%E2%80%99d%20like%20her%20to%20pen%20a%20book%20about%20the%20food%20scene%20in%20Milwaukee.%20Only%20time%20will%20tell%20if%20she%E2%80%99ll%20take%20them%20up%20on%20it.%20But,%20it%E2%80%99s%20still%20pretty%20awesome.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHEALTH%20AND%20HAPPINESS:%20Despite%20working%20five%20jobs%20(literally),%20and%20getting%20very%20little%20sleep,%20we%E2%80%99re%20both%20still%20sane%20and%20walking%20upright.%20We%20have%20three%20lovely%20furballs%20who%20warm%20our%20feet%20at%20night.%20And%20a%20little%20gingerbread%20house%20that%20keeps%20us%20warm%20and%20dry.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EALL%20OF%20YOU:%20Thanks%20to%20all%20of%20you%20who%20kept%20on%20reading%20this%20year,%20despite%20the%20fact%20that%20our%20blogging%20came%20in%20fits%20and%20spurts.%20You've%20been%20the%20heart%20of%20what%20we%20do%20--%20and%20the%20inspiration%20for%20us%20to%20continue%20in%202014.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWishing%20you%20the%20best%20of%20the%20best%20in%202014!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECheers!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%C2%A9BURP!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
