  1. In a large saucepan, bring 6 c. millk to a boil over medium heat. Remove from the heat and set aside. In a mixing bowl, beat Large eggs yolks; add in remaining lowfat milk and mix well. Combine 2 c. sugar, cornstarch and salt; gradually add in to egg mix. Add in to warm lowfat milk and bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 2 min or possibly till slightly thickened. Pour into a clean mixing bowl; set aside. Beat egg whites till soft peaks form; gradually add in remaining sugar, beating well after each addition. Beat till stiff peaks form. Fold into hot lowfat milk mix. Beat in vanilla and cream till well mixed. Chill at least 5 hrs or possibly overnight. Freeze in an ice cream freezer according to manufacturer's directions. Garnish with cherries if you like.
  2. Yield: 3-1/2 qts
