  • Preheat Oven to 400 degrees F.

  1. Put a 'seasoned' black iron frying pan into the oven with about 2 Tbsp. fresh veg. oil in it and rolled around to grease bottom and sides well. If using another type pan or possibly baking dish, grease and set aside.
  2. Combine:3/4 c. self-rising flour such as Martha White's Warm Rise 1 1/4 c. self-rising White Lily corn meal 2 tsp. Iodized table salt2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
  3. Add in and combine well. Do not over-mix:1 c. regular buttermilk (not low fat)
  4. 2 large fresh eggs1/4 c. melted Pure Butter1/4 c. warm water
  5. Cornbread should be like cake batter. If it is too thick, add in: 1/4 c. additional warm waterPour the batter into the prepared warm frying pan or possibly dish or possibly pan. Slice through it with a knife to remove any excess air bubbles. Place in center of preheated oven and bake it for 40 to 45 min, or possibly till golden and a tooth pick or possibly knife stuck in the center comes out clean. Remove to a cooling rack. Cut and serve warm with Pure Butter.
