  • 1 tablespoon ground red “cayenne” pepper
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • For frying:
  • 1 (16-ounce) container Crisco vegetable shortening
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
