,%20but%20as%20I%20was%20madly%20preparing%20for%20the%204th%20and%20then%20reeling%20in%20the%20aftermath%20of%20it%20all,%20I%20realized%20that%20today%20is%20Friday%20and%20that%20people%20are%20likely%20not%20working%20and%20tired%20and%20are%20sleeping%20in%20and%20are%20going%20to%20be%20out%20of%20their%20routines%20and%20that%20a%20day%20like%20today%20is%20not%20a%20day%20for%20meals%20that%20take%20grocery%20shopping%20and%20advance%20preparation%20and%20things%20like%20fresh%20herbs.%20Today%20is%20a%20day%20for%20caffeine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%E2%80%A6I%20know%20there%20are%20people%20reading%20this%20who%20are%20going%20to%20think%20I%E2%80%99m%20a%20heathen%20spawn%20of%20evil%20for%20posting%20a%20recipe%20with%20Diet%20Coke.%20I%20know%20there%20are%20those%20of%20you%20out%20there%20who%20long%20to%20tell%20me%20that%20Diet%20Coke%20is%20poison%20and%20that%20every%20cell%20in%20my%20body%20screams%20with%20a%20tiny,%20hyper%20voice%20with%20every%20sip%20I%20take.%20To%20all%20of%20you:%20I%20hear%20you.%20I%20probably%20am%20the%20heathen%20spawn%20of%20evil%20and%20I%20probably%20am%20poisoning%20myself,%20but%20see,%20I%E2%80%99m%20as%20a%20Mormon%20girl,%20which%20means%20my%20list%20of%20potential%20vices%20is%20depressingly%20small,%20and,%20try%20as%20I%20might,%20I%20can%E2%80%99t%20seem%20to%20find%20more%20than%205,%20sometimes%206%20hours%20to%20sleep%20every%20night.%20So%20here%20we%20are%20at%20Diet%20Coke.%20Hello,%20old%20friend.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20heard%20about%20Dirty%20Diet%20Coke%20the%20other%20day%20on%20a%20comment%20on%20one%20of%20my%20pictures%20on%20Instagram%20(if%20you%20haven%E2%80%99t%20already,%20go%20check%20out%20Sara%E2%80%99s,%20too!)%20and%20I%20knew%20I%20pretty%20much%20needed%20to%20try%20it%20out%20immediately.%20As%20luck%20would%20have%20it,%20I%20had%20coconut%20syrup%20(I%20had%20to%20order%20mine%20from%20Amazon),%20Diet%20Coke%20(duh),%20and%20limes%20on%20hand.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%E2%80%A6some%20of%20the%20methods%20I%20see%20call%20for%20sugar-free%20coconut%20syrup.%20I%20used%20full-sugar%20coconut%20syrup%20because%20a)%20that%20is%20what%20I%20had%20and%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20really%20feel%20like%20waiting%20and%20b)%20sugar-free%20syrup%20didn%E2%80%99t%20sound%20very%20dirty.%20It%20kind%20of%20reminded%20me%20of%20when%20Gwyneth%20Paltrow%20said%20she%20knew%20she%20had%20hit%20rock%20bottom%20when%20she%20found%20herself%20eating%20brown%20rice%20%20straight%20from%20the%20container%20in%20the%20middle%20of%20the%20night%20and%20I%20just%20thought,%20%E2%80%9CHer%20dieting%20rock%20bottom%20is%20way%20different%20from%20my%20dieting%20rock%20bottom.%E2%80%9D%20If%20I%E2%80%99m%20going%20to%20have%20a%20Dirty%20Diet%20Coke,%20it%E2%80%99s%20gonna%20be%20dirrrty.%20Sugar%20and%20everything.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20found%20a%2024-ounce%20cup%20to%20be%20the%20perfect%20size%20(I%20totally%20haven%E2%80%99t%20been%20obsessively%20making%20these%20or%20anything).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20these%20heavy-duty%20clear%20cups%20from%20Sam%E2%80%99s%20Club%20(kind%20of%20like%20the%20ones%20you%20get%20in%20coffee%20shops%20or%20cool%20little%20cafes),%20but%20I%20have%20many%20cups%20and%20glasses%20in%20my%20cupboards%20that%20hold%2024%20ounces.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%202%20tablespoons%20of%20coconut%20syrup%20into%20the%20bottom%20of%20a%2024-ounce%20cup%20or%20glass.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFill%20it%20about%20halfway%20full%20with%20crushed%20ice.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESqueeze%20the%20lime%20quarters%20over%20the%20ice%20and%20drop%20them%20into%20the%20glass%20so%20the%20rind%20is%20touching%20the%20ice.%20Pour%20the%20Diet%20Coke%20over%20the%20spent%20limes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20kind%20of%20the%20traditional%20Dirty%20Diet%20Coke.%20And%20it%E2%80%99s%20delicious%20and%20amazing%20and%20I%20think%20about%20it%20all%20the%20time%20(not%20that%20that%E2%80%99s%20weird%20or%20anything).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20if%20you%E2%80%99re%20feeling%20wild%20and%20crazy%E2%80%A6if%20you%E2%80%99ve%20had%20a%20rough%20day%E2%80%A6if%20you%20wish%20you%20were%20somewhere%20tropical%E2%80%A6if%20you%20just%20want%20to,%20add%20about%201-2%20tablespoons%20(really,%20just%20a%20splash)%20of%20half%20and%20half.%20It%E2%80%99s%20amazing.%20It%E2%80%99s%20such%20a%20great%20treat%20(and%20honestly,%20if%20you%E2%80%99re%20going%20to%20have%20a%20treat,%20all%20things%20considered,%20this%20one%20isn%E2%80%99t%20too%20bad,%20although%20it%E2%80%99s%20probably%20not%20the%20best%20way%20to%20drink%20ALL%20your%20Diet%20Cokes%20with%20sugar%20and%20cream%E2%80%A6just%20saying.)%20Add%20a%20straw%20to%20stir%20and%20serve.%20This%20makes%201%20serving.%20Just%20for%20you.%20No%20one%20else.%20Go%20hide%20somewhere%20with%20a%20lock%20on%20the%20door%20and%20enjoy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirty%20Diet%20Coke%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERecipe%20adapted%20by%20Our%20Best%20Bites%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EInstructions:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20the%20coconut%20syrup%20into%20the%20bottom%20of%20a%2024-ounce%
