I think it's time for some useful information in the care and cleaning of vintage CorningWare. Recipes are all fine and good; but once your done eating, it's time to do the dishes. :)
This post was actually spurred by one of my Salvation Army finds. I was lucky enough to stumble upon 4 CorningWare French White 500ml Ramekins. (Item F-16-B) For those of us who still think in Standard Measures, that is about 17 oz. (Seriously, I always have to sit and contemplate what the equivalent standard measure is before I can visualize how much something holds)

%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20post%20was%20actually%20spurred%20by%20one%20of%20my%20Salvation%20Army%20finds.%20%20I%20was%20lucky%20enough%20to%20stumble%20upon%204%20CorningWare%20French%20White%20500ml%20Ramekins.%20(Item%20F-16-B)%20%20%20For%20those%20of%20us%20who%20still%20think%20in%20Standard%20Measures,%20that%20is%20about%2017%20oz.%20%20(Seriously,%20I%20always%20have%20to%20sit%20and%20contemplate%20what%20the%20equivalent%20standard%20measure%20is%20before%20I%20can%20visualize%20how%20much%20something%20holds)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20just%20happens%20to%20be%20the%20perfect%20size%20(as%20are%20Grab-It%20bowls)%20for%20making%20individual%20Pot%20Pies.%20%20Woo%20hoo!%20%20%20(Yes,%20that%20will%20be%20the%20next%20post%20-%20Pesto%20Chicken%20Pot%20Pie)%20%20So,%20I%20ran%20them%20through%20the%20dishwasher,%20but%20lo'%20and%20behold,%20there%20were%20still%20%22marks%22%20on%20the%20bottoms.%20%20Which,%20since%20they%20are%20about%2020%20years%20old,%20is%20to%20be%20expected,%20but%20I%20am%20a%20stickler%20for%20bright,%20shiny,%20uber%20clean%20looking%20CorningWare.%20%20SO......%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20how%20to%20remove%20those%20stubborn%20grey%20marks%20on%20the%20bottom%20of%20your%20vintage%20CorningWare.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20particular%20type%20of%20sponge%20is%20your%20best%20friend%20when%20it%20comes%20to%20cleaning%20marks%20off%20of%20your%20pieces.%20I%20swear,%20it's%20like%20magic.%20It's%20made%20by%20O-Cel-O%20and%20does%20wonders%20for%20your%20glass%20cook%20top%20as%20well%20as%20your%20CorningWare.%20%20It%20seems%20to%20be%20a%20nylon%20type%20fabric%20with%20little%20plastic%20bumps%20on%20it.%20%20Very%20different%20from%20your%20normal%20scrubber%20sponge.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESimply%20dampen%20with%20water%20and%20add%20a%20little%20liquid%20dish%20soap.%20%20Then,%20using%20the%20scrubber%20side,%20simply%20apply%20a%20slight%20amount%20of%20pressure%20and%20scrub.%20%20The%20marks%20will%20simply%20disappear%20like%20magic.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDon't%20worry,%20it%20doesn't%20scratch%20the%20CorningWare,%20and%20you%20will%20be%20surprised%20how%20easily%20the%20marks%20are%20removed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESometimes%20there%20are%20metal%20marks%20on%20the%20CorningWare...%20This%20happens%20when%20using%20metal%20tools%20because%20your%20PyroCeram%20cookware%20is%20actually%20tougher%20than%20the%20metal.%20%20Thus%20the%20metal%20actually%20leaves%20deposits%20on%20your%20pieces.%20%20When%20you%20have%20metal%20marks,%20I%20suggest%20using%20a%20glass%20cook%20top%20Cleaner/Polish%20(along%20with%20the%20O-Cel-O%20sponge)%20to%20keep%20your%20CorningWare%20looking%20and%20feeling%20it's%20best.%20%20This%20is%20the%20particular%20brand%20that%20I%20use%20for%20both.%20%20It%20works%20beautifully.%20%20And%20remember,%20clean%20CorningWare%20is%20Godly%20CorningWare.%20%20:)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20I%20have%20sparkling%20clean%20CorningWare,%20gleaming%20in%20its%20snow%20white%20perfection.%20%20So%20clean%20that%20looks%20like%20I%20just%20bought%20it%20in%20a%20Department%20Store%20instead%20of%20the%20Salvation%20Army%20for%20$%203.96.%20%20Yep,%20you%20read%20that%20right.%20%20They%20were%20.99%20cents%20each.%20%20Total%20bargain.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20to%20make%20Chicken%20Pot%20Pie...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhere%20is%20your%20Corningware%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
