- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1/2 c. brown sugar packed
- 3 1/2 tsp baking pwdr
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 Tbsp. oil
- 1 1/4 c. lowfat milk
- 1 x egg
- 1 Tbsp. grated orange peel
- 10 ounce mild chutney
- 1 c. minced nuts
- 2 lb cream cheese softened
- 2 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp curry pwdr
- 1 pch salt

- Combine the flour, sugars, baking pwdr, salt, oil, lowfat milk, egg, and orange peel in a mixing bowl. Beat 30 seconds. Add in the chutney and nuts. Mix lightly, don't overmix.
- Turn into a greased (bottom only) 9 x 5-inch loaf or possibly 9-inch tube pan and bake at 350F degrees for 55 to 65 min, or possibly till a tester inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cold slightly. Loosen the sides of the pan and remove the bread. Cold before serving.
- Serve with the curried cheese spread.
- CURRIED CHEESE SPREAD: (OPTIONAL) Beat the cream cheese with the sugar, curry pwdr, and salt just till blended.
- MAKES 1 C.
- NOTES : Tea Bread; freezes well.
