- Preheat oven to 450. Place a large sifter in a bowl and sift together dry ingredients. Cut in vegetable shortening with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Make a well and add buttermilk. Stir quickly with a fork and from into a ball. Turn out on floured work surface and gently knead until it comes together and is smooth. Roll lightly until about 1 inch thick. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes and serve immediately.
