- In a buttered casserole arrange a layer of asparagus spears, dot with butter and sprinkle with lemon juice. Sprinkle generously with cheese. Repeat twice more, so as to have three layers of asparagus ending with cheese. Dot with butter. (A couple bread crumbs may be used to make more topping.) Bake in hot oven, 400 degrees, about 10 to 12 min, so all is well heated and top is somewhat crusty. Serves 6.
