%20Todd%20will%20be%20able%20to%20enjoy%20that%20pleasure%20as%20well.%20You%20might%20be%20asking%20yourself%20by%20this%20point,%20what%20on%20earth%20does%20this%20have%20to%20do%20with%20Baked%20Apple%20Brulee%20.%20.%20.%20the%20answer%20would%20be%20absolutely%20nothing!%20It%20just%20meant%20that%20I%20couldn't%20be%20home%20taking%20photos%20when%20I%20normally%20would%20be.%20Just%20sayin'%20is%20all.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyways,%20I%20made%20these%20lovely%20Baked%20Apple%20Brulee%20for%20tonight%20and%20then%20I%20had%20to%20resort%20to%20lamps%20to%20take%20my%20photos%20.%20.%20.%20I%20really%20tried%20to%20get%20them%20done%20before%20the%20sun%20had%20dipped%20too%20low%20in%20the%20sky%20.%20.%20.%20but%20I%20failed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20trick%20to%20making%20a%20good%20brulee%20is%20to%20make%20sure%20that%20the%20cream%20is%20really%20cold%20.%20.%20.%20and%20that%20the%20sugar%20caramelizes%20before%20it%20begins%20to%20heat%20up.%20Not%20sure%20I%20really%20managed%20that%20today,%20but%20I%20did%20try.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENevermind%20.%20.%20.%20bad%20pictures%20or%20not,%20they%20tasted%20pretty%20good%20anyways.%20In%20fact,%20they%20were%20heavenly.%20If%20you%20are%20looking%20for%20a%20special%20dessert%20over%20the%20holidays%20that%20will%20give%20you%20mega%20brownie%20points%20with%20only%20the%20smallest%20of%20efforts%20.%20.%20.%20this%20is%20the%20one%20Seriously.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt's%20so%20delicious%20in%20fact%20that%20I%20have%20now%20decided%20this%20is%20going%20to%20be%20my%20Christmas%20Dinner%20Dessert.%20Move%20over%20Trifle%20.%20.%20.%20there's%20a%20new%20kid%20in%20town,%20and%20not%20only%20is%20he%20decadently%20delicious,%20but%20he's%20quick%20and%20cheap%20.%20.%20.%20and%20really,%20really%20easy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*Baked%20Apple%20Brulee*%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%204%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESweet%20pan%20roasted%20apples%20beneath%20a%20blanket%20of%20creme%20fraiche%20and%20topped%20with%20a%20crisp%20sugar%20shell.%20Scrummy%20yummy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPeel,%20core%20and%20cut%20the%20apples%20into%201/2%20inch%20thick%20slices.%20Melt%20the%20butter%20in%20a%20large%20frying%20pan.%20Toss%20in%20the%20apples.%20Saute%20over%20medium%20heat%20for%207%20or%208%20minutes,%20just%20until%20beginning%20to%20soften.%20Stir%20in%20the%20sugar,%20cinnamon%20and%20nutmeg.%20Continue%20to%20cook%20for%20several%20minutes%20longer,%20stirring%20now%20and%20then,%20until%20the%20apples%20are%20glazed%20and%20beginning%20to%20catch%20in%20spots.%20Remove%20from%20the%20heat%20immediately%20and%20divide%20the%20cooked%20apples%20between%204%208-ounce%20ramekins.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELet%20cool%20to%20room%20temperature.%20Once%20cooled,%20top%20each%20ramekin%20with%201/4th%20of%20the%20creme%20fraiche,%20spreading%20it%20evenly%20over%20top%20of%20the%20apples.%20(This%20much%20can%20be%20done%20ahead%20of%20time%20and%20the%20ramekins%20placed%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20to%20chill.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20the%20grill%20oven/broiler%20to%20high.%20Sprinkle%201%20heaped%20TBS%20of%20the%20demerara%20sugar%20over%20top%20of%20each%20evenly.%20Place%20them%20onto%20a%20tray%20and%20then%20pop%20them%20under%20the%20grill,%20about%204%20inches%20from%20the%20heat%20source%20and%20toast%20for%205%20to%208%20minutes%20until%20the%20sugar%20is%20bubbly%20and%20caramelized.%20The%20trick%20is%20to%20caramelise%20the%20sugar%20without%20burning%20it,%20and%20without%20heating%20up%20the%20creme%20fraich%20too%20much!%20(You%20can%20do%20this%20with%20a%20cook's%20blow%20torch.%20This%20is%20on%20my%20Christmas%20List!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOver%20in%20The%20Cottage%20today,%20the%20World's%20Best%20Macaroni%20&%20Cheese!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
