- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 c. flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon grnd cloves
- 10 ounce chocolate chips
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 c. applesauce
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon nuts

- Add in baking soda to applesauce and set aside. Cream shortening and sugar, then add in egg and vanilla. Sift in flour and add in spices. Add in applesauce mix. Mix in nuts and chocolate chips. Bake at 375 degrees on Teflon cookie sheet for 15 to 20 min.
