Share feature on Foodbuzz!

Just went back to Foodbuzz for the first time in some time. As I was logging in, a message popped up on the screen asking me to opt in or out of Foodbuzz's new 'share' feature. No word on what it will be like, exactly, but it seems that the ability to send recipes to friends is being reinstated.

That's good news for us Foodbuzzers... but will it be worth heading back and spending most of my time over there? I've come to enjoy it over here at CES. I wonder....

You're right... I've got used to not being there actually.

Ditto for me too. I went back there today for the first time in forever. Suddenly it seemed like a lot of work. I like it here.

Re: Share feature on Foodbuzz!

I do not like the share feature on FB. I have over 1,000 emails!!! That is just too much for me. It seems so much less stressful over here :)

Re: Share feature on Foodbuzz!

I went onto FoodBuzz to post and I had 400 messages in my inbox. It's overwhelming. Plus they do not have a select all feature, so you actually have to delete one by one. Not cool. I think I am going to start things up on this CES.

Re: Share feature on Foodbuzz!

Their new sharing method is more like a spamming method. The good is you can on now click send to all friends, but if you have 100's of friends that are doing that with each blog post, that sure generates a lot of emails people are getting in a single day.

FB definitely needs to take some lessons from CES. The group features here is the greatest tool that I have seen on a Food site. Great way to build a community of similar cooks.

Has anyone noticed how slow FB is? Their pages take forever to load.

Re: Share feature on Foodbuzz!

Personally I'm a fan of the share feature and don't consider it spamming. (The issue has been hotly debated over on the site.) but I do agree that a select all feature for your inbox would really be welcome. Right now yiu can select page by page only, for a max of 25 posts per page, so if your inbox is overflowing it can take some time to clean it out.

I also agree that the groups feature here is a fantastic idea. With some kinks to be worked out, however, as it is prone to another kind of spamming: nothing to stop people from adding off-topic recipes to any group which really undercuts their usefulness. As administrator of a number of groups, I'd really appreciate being able to moderate the recipes that get added or to filter submissions by cuisine or other characteristics.

PS And yes I have noticed that FBZ is getting really, really slow lately....

Re: Share feature on Foodbuzz!

I have been on my culinary journey since January of 2010 and I am still not comfortable joining a mega house like Foodbuzz. I am already overwhelmed with keeping up with creating quality posts and exchanging comments with my 'Foodies'.
Add all that to a full time job and life itself...wow...when are we going to be able to strike a balance?
These big houses...and CES also should pay attention...have to realize that if all this spins out of control...some very dedicated and passionate 'Foodies' will exit all together. That, in itself would be real shame.

So far I am very pleased being here on CES and always looking forward to some needed improvements. With time, of course, I'm confident that they'll iron out the wrinkles ;o)

Wishing you all the very best and flavourful wishes,
Claudia

Re: Share feature on Foodbuzz!

I very rarely log onto Foodbuzz now because the last few times I've popped in, I've been overwhelmed by the amount of stuff in the inbox! And I don't even have hundreds of followers so dread to think how the foodies with larger networks are coping!

It's very offputting not having a feature there to be able to 'select all' - I do tend to select and delete posts where perhaps the subject heading might not interest me but it's a shame because I do enjoy keeping up to date with people's posts etc. But now I just tend to follow people's posts via Twitter or sign up to their RSS feed as it's much more manageable to follow.

Even with CES, I only get round to using as a recipe uploader - I always want to explore more because I like the way the groups are set up etc but I never seem to find time to do it, and it makes me feel a bit bad because I feel like I should be 'contributing' more than just uploading my recipes.
