Euro 2012 Will Provide Some Excitement This Summer
The <a href="http://www.european-championship.com">Euro 2012</a> tournament is down to 16 teams after all of
the qualifying rounds have been completed. There are many stars of football still left in this tournament, so it should be quite an exciting even to behold this summer. Anyone who is interested in football in any part of the world would have to be interested in seeing who wins this year's UEFA tournament.
12 of the teams in this year's tournament were also in the tournament in 2008 when Spain came home with the championship trophy. Spain then went on to win the World Cup in 2010, so you could say that they are coming into this tournament as a team that is expected to do well. The main competition that comes Spain's way is probably going to come from the likes of Germany and the Netherlands.
Xavi and Iniesta have been working together in Spain's midfield for a number of years, and the two of them have really put together quite a bit of chemistry in their time at FC Barcelona. When you have a tandem like those two in the midfield, it will always be hard to have any kind of control over possession as the opposing team. This was definitely the case in the World Cup when Spain went undefeated after losing their opening game to Switzerland.
There are many attacking threats to look out for in the Netherlands, but their defense is what may let them down at the end of the day. With Robben, Van Persie, Huntelaar, and Sneijder among the options in the attack, they will definitely be a team that is going to score some goals. The only question with the Netherlands is whether or not they will be able to keep the opposition off the score sheet during the entire tournament.
In Germany, we have what is probably Spain's biggest opposition. Germany has always been a strong and defensive team on the international stage, but they also have an amazing playmaker on their hands in MesutOzil. Ozil is going to be the key to Germany's success this year because he is going to be at the center of their attack. If Ozil can make the big plays at the right time, then they have a shot at not only doing well in the tournament, but perhaps winning the whole thing.
There are plenty of other teams that could cause problems in Euro 2012, but chances are that one of these three teams are going to win the title. England always comes stocked with a plethora of talent on the filed and on the bench, but they always seem to let themselves down on the big stage. France is another team with plenty of talent, but they still seem to be having trouble with team chemistry after the World Cup fiasco in 2010.
When you look at the rest of the field, there are still a number of players that could make a huge impact on the tournament. Obviously Ronaldo of Portugal is always going to be a threat to score, and ZlatanIbramiovic has had another stellar year this season in Serie A. This tournament is definitely going to be something to watch anyway you look at it because there are plenty of amazing players to watch on all of the teams that are going to be involved.
