I baked my first pie (cherry for Daddy) at 5 (with a LOT of supervision from Grandma) and made my first dinner (beef stew with the help of a cookbook) at 10. I've been in love with cooking and baking ever since. Given the choice, I would choose a gift certificate for cooks' supply store over clothing or jewelry any day of the week.
What with a husband with type 2 diabetes; heart, high cholesterol and high blood pressure issues, among others, cooking has become more of a challenge than it was previously.

Grandma, first, last, and always! I can still remember sitting on the kitchen table while she made baking powder biscuits. The woman must have had the patience of Job!
