While I am a native Carolinian (from the area of the South Carolina-North Carolina Stateline), I am now residing in Shandong Province, China. I am a teacher in a small university here. I rely heavily on the internet to find recipes for familiar foods that I can adapt to the local ingredients.

I was very influenced by the downhome cooking of my mother, aunts, and older sisters that I ate growing up in the Carolinas. But also being mindful of the need to be health-conscious, I try to adapt as many of the familiar foods of my childhood to more healthful recipes. Also, living in China I have moved to more natural ingredients and less processed foods.
