I am the editor and founder of Mapplr (www.mapplr.com), a blog devoted to finding and reporting the best restaurants, hotels and cafes around the world. I love cooking. I recently returned from Peru where I fell in love with Peruvian food. I couldn't get enough to the spicy ceviches, soups, and pico de gallo. I love Asian food too although the Philippines, where I come from, does not have spicy food, except for the province of Pampanga.
I don't like overly complicated recipes. I prefer to cook simple dishes with fresh ingredients. My favorite cuisines are from Southeast Asia, in particular, Vietnamese.

My grandmother was an amazing cook and my Filipino family always ate very well. The Chinese side of my family (father's side was also very picky about food. I often went with them to excellent Chinese restaurants in Manila so the I find the Chinese food in San Francisco is very disappointing.
I lean towards the Alice Waters philosophy of cooking: fresh ingredients, simple preparation, emphasis on fresh herbs and spices.
