,%20this%20parking%20lot%20full%20of%20food%20vendors%20will%20knock%20your%20socks%20off.%20%20I%20get%20legitimate%20anxiety%20trying%20to%20decide%20which%20fabulous%20things%20to%20taste.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere%20is%20just%20a%20small%20sampling%20of%20some%20of%20the%20tasty%20things%20we%20tried%20last%20weekend.%20%20Yellow%20plum%20and%20chai%20shaved%20ice%20from%20People%E2%80%99s%20Pops.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBlue%20Bottle,%20obvs.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20Bahn%20Mi%20chicken%20hot%20dog%20from%20Asia%20Dog.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESugar%20cane%20lemonade.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20the%20boardwalk%20fries%20from%20Home%20Frite.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%7Bfrom%20the%20website:%20malt%20aioli%20made%20with%20Brooklyn%20Brewery%20Beer%20and%20fries%20seasoned%20with%20hickory%20smoked%20salt%20and%20malt%20vinegar%20powder%7D%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeavenly.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20also%20had%20biscuits,%20Horchatta,%20and%20other%20things%20I%E2%80%99m%20sure%20I%E2%80%99m%20forgetting.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMixology%20Class%20at%20Harding%E2%80%99s%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHappily%20for%20me,%20I%20recently%20received%20a%20media%20invite%20to%20attend%20the%20first%20of%20Harding%E2%80%99s%20monthly%20mixology%20classes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlease%20note%20%E2%80%93%20I%20attended%20this%20event%20free%20of%20charge.%20%20I%20was%20not%20provided%20further%20compensation%20for%20this%20post.%20%20All%20opinions%20are%20my%20own.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere%20is%20what%20they%20have%20to%20say%20about%20the%20class%20%E2%80%93%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAmericana-chic%20Flatiron%20parlor,%20Harding%E2%80%99s,%20is%20shaking%20up%20the%20first%20Tuesday%20of%20each%20month%20with%20the%20launch%20of%20a%20new%20hands-on%20mixology%20class%20series.%20%20Starting%20Tuesday,%20May%206,%20Harding%E2%80%99s%20head%20mixologist%20will%20lead%20participants%20through%20an%20interactive%201-hour%20session%20to%20instill%20the%20building%20blocks%20of%20mixology%20(for%20instance,%20the%20difference%20between%20bourbon%20and%20rye,%20and%20why%20James%20Bond%20should%20have%20ordered%20his%20martinis%20%E2%80%9Cstirred%E2%80%94not%20shaken%E2%80%9D),%20fundamental%20mixology%20techniques,%20and%20the%20methods%20behind%20three%20seasonally%20inspired%20cocktails,%20each%20month%20built%20around%20a%20new%20theme:%20%20%E2%80%A6%20June%20will%20illuminate%20the%20lighter,%20brighter%20side%20of%20whiskey.%20%20In%20July,%20spicy%20jalapeno%20and%20ginger-infused%20cocktails%20will%20most%20certainly%20set%20off%20fireworks.%20[August%20covers%20infusions%20and%20September%20will%20go%20back%20to%20the%20basics%20with%20classic%20cocktails.]%20%20Complimentary%20light%20snacks%20will%20also%20be%20provided.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMay%E2%80%99s%20class%20was%20all%20floral%20pairings%20%E2%80%93%20lavender%20and%20rosewater%20%E2%80%93%20aka%20it%20was%20perfect%20for%20me.%20%20My%20thoughts%E2%80%A6%20I%20loved%20it!%20%20The%20classes%20cost%20$35%20per%20person%20and%20I%20think%20that%20price%20is%20more%20than%20worth%20it;%20you%20have%20the%20opportunity%20to%20drink%20a%20minimum%20of%2010%20oz%20of%20liquor%20and%20Derrick%20Turner%20%E2%80%93%20head%20mixologist%20for%20Harding%E2%80%99s%20and%20teacher%20of%20the%20class%20and%20creator%20of%20the%20cocktails%20%E2%80%93%20was%20both%20funny%20and%20informative.%20%20P.S.%20The%20light%20snacks?%20Included%20soft%20pretzels%20with%20dipping%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20learned,%20among%20other%20things,%20how%20to%20use%20a%20cocktail%20shaker,%20what%20makes%20bourbon%20different%20from%20vodka,%20and%20how%20to%20do%20a%20bar%20pour%20%7B8%20seconds%20=%202%20oz%20=%201%20pour%7D.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20made%20three%20drinks,%20all%20of%20which%20were%20fantastic.%20%20For%20obviously%20reasons,%20I%E2%80%99m%20just%20naming%20a%20few%20components%20and%20not%20giving%20the%20entire%20recipes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%231:%20Suzanne%20Collins,%20a%20Tom%20Collins%20with%20rose%20water%20and%20pink%20peppercorn.%20%20And%20a%20candied%20orange%20topper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%232:%20Roseberry,%20a%20whiskey%20drink%20with%20raspberries,%20rosemary,%20and%20lavender.%20%20%3C%E2%80%93%20this%20one%20was%20clearly%20my%20favorite%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%233:%20Maidens%20Blush,%20vodka%20with%20cherry%20liquor%20and%20sparkling%20Brut.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20at%20the%20end%20of%20the%20class%20we%20got%20to%20go%20one-on-one%20with%20the%20other%20participants%20in%20a%20cocktail%20making%20challenge.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20sparkling%20vodka,%20lemon,%20lavender%20cocktail%20did%20not%20win,%20but%20when%20they%20saw%20how%20jazzed%20I%20was%20about%20the%20lavender%20simple%20syrup%20they%20packaged%20the%20rest%20up%20for%20me%20to%20take%20home!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETLDR?%20%20Mixology%20class%20at%20Harding%E2%80%99s%20/%20more%20than%20worth%20the%20$35%20/%20go%20get%20wasted,%20in%20a%20classy,%20educational%20way%20/%20then%20eat%20soft%20pretzels.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFrozen%20Treats%20in%20NYC%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHave%20you%20seen%20the%20Buzzfeed%20article%2044%20Frozen%20Treats%20You%20Need%20to%20Try%20in%20NYC%20This%20Summer?%20%20Uggh.%20%20I%20am%20determinedly%20working%20my%20way%20through%20them%20one%20by%20one.%20%20I%E2%80%99ve%20already%20crossed%20off%20a%20slightly%20concerning%20amount.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20week%20I%20conquered%20%2315%20%E2%80%93%20the%20alcoholic%20Kelvin%20Slush%20from%20Pork%20Slope.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThey%20had%20frozen%20mint%20juleps%20for%20the%20Derby.%20%20I%20went%20back%20two%20days%20in%20a%20row%20and%20am%20basically%20heartbroken%20that%20the%20julep%20won%E2%80%99t%20be%20a%20part%20of%20the%20regular%20menu.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%2330%20%E2%80%93%20Fruit%20soft-serve%20at%20Chloe%E2%80%99s.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20got%20a%20banana%20and%20dark%20chocolate%20swirl.%20%20It%20was%20fine,%20but%20nothing%20I%20would%20go%20back%20for,%20though%20Adam%20loved%20his%20strawberry%20mango.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20%2335%20%E2%80%93%20gummy%20bear%20cream%20ice%20from%20Ralph%E2%80%99s.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20gummy%20creamy%20marriage%20was%20everything%20I%20was%20hoping%20it%20would%20be.%20%20I%20normally%20hate%20vanilla%20ice%20creams%20but%20the%20milky%20base%20used%20here%20was%20the%20perfect%20complement%20to%20the%20bears.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20is%20rocking%20your%20face%20off%20in%20your%20city%20this%20summer?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20Loading...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERelated%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
