Way to go, Kathy! I had an old American Harvest dehydrator for over 20 years, and used it to dry everything, at one point or another. It finally died, and I didn't replace it for a few years. I realized how much food I was wasting by freezing it, and then having to toss it out due to freezer burn.
I finally bought a new dehydrator last spring and immediately launched into my "beef jerky" thing. I made a huge amount for my husband to nibble on while I was away at work for the summer, and when I returned, it was all gone.
It's now the perfect time of year to dust it off and start drying the bounty of fruits and vegetables (and cows) that are out there on sale.
Have fun with it; I sure do!

11 сентября 2012Funny you mention it .. I bought a dehydrator at a yard sale several years ago and basically have used it for beef and deer jerky . I look forward to trying this with the abundance of tomatoes I have been blessed with this year
