%20is%20officially%20upon%20me%20us!%20Do%20you%20know%20what%20that%20means?%20It%20means%20that%20I%20have%20access%20to%20my%20most%20favoritest%20fruit%20ever.....FRESH%20STRAWBERRIES!!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJust%20last%20week%20a%20buddy%20of%20mine%20who%20happens%20to%20have%20a%20strawberry%20field%20in%20the%20family,%20brought%20me%20a%20flat%20of%20some%20big%20fat%20juicy%20ones....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJust%20so%20ya%20know....those%20aren't%20even%20the%20big%20ones%20(the%20big%20ones%20were%20consumed%20waaaaaay%20before%20they%20even%20made%20it%20home)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWell....with%20a%20whole%20flat%20of%20strawberries...you%20bet%20your%20patootie%20that%20I%20have%20some%20serious%20strawberry%20plans.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHey...did%20you%20know%20that%20there's%20such%20a%20%20thing%20as%20strawberry%20bread?%20As%20in....quick%20bread?%20You%20know,%20like%20banana%20bread.%20I%20had%20Nooooooo%20idea.%20All%20these%20years%20of%20having%20a%20sensuous,%20titillating,%20prominently%20organic%20(I'm%20not%20a%20fan%20of%20anything%20strawberry%20%22flavored%22)%20love%20affair%20with%20these%20tarty%20sweet%20fleshy%20fruits....and%20I%20had%20never%20in%20my%20life%20heard%20of%20strawberry%20bread.%20I%20feel....betrayed%20in%20a%20sense.%20Why%20the%20secret?%20What's%20the%20big%20deal?%20It's%20only%20bread...it's%20not%20like%20a%20whole%20cake...or%20ice%20cream.....or%20anything%20of%20that%20magnitude.%20I%20thought%20I%20knew%20my%20strawberry!%20What%20else%20haven't%20I%20been%20told?%20Oh%20no,%20I%20don't%20think%20so.%20A%20strawberry%20margarita%20isn't%20gonna%20make%20up%20for%20it%20this%20time,%20my%20little%20berry%20babe%20(although%20it%20won't%20hurt).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20thats%20ok,%20don't%20worry....I'm%20a%20forgiving%20person.%20Especially%20after%20experiencing%20this%20lovely%20%22new%22%20quick%20bread%20(ooooh,%20if%20only%20I%20knew%20then....the%20things%20I%20know%20now...the%20places%20I%20could've%20gone%20with%20this.%20Believe%20me%20it%20won't%20stop%20here).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOops...forgot%20to%20include%20the%20buttermilk%20in%20that%20picture....(which%20by%20the%20way%20is%20my%20alteration.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20thing%20before%20I%20continue.%20Not%20long%20ago%20I%20decided%20to%20invest%20in%20a%20digital%20food%20scale.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20thing%20is%20sooo%20worth%20it's%20weight%20in%20gold.%20I%20can%20add%20an%20ingredient%20to%20a%20bowl....hit%20a%20button%20and%20it%20takes%20the%20measurement%20back%20to%20zero%20and%20then%20I%20get%20to%20weigh%20the%20next%20ingredient.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELOVE%20IT!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOk....Here's%20how%20it%20works....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20medium%20bowl,%20combine%20the%20flour,%20sugar,%20baking%20soda,%20salt%20nutmeg,%20and%20nuts.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20another%20bowl,%20whisk%20together%20the%20egg,%20lemon%20zest,%20strawberries,%20and%20buttermilk.%20Pour%20into%20dry%20ingredients%20and%20stir%20until%20just%20combined.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20into%20prepared%20loaf%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20for%2055%20-%2060%20minutes%20or%20until%20toothpick%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAllow%20to%20cool%20in%20the%20pan%20for%2015%20minutes.%20Remove%20from%20pan%20and%20allow%20to%20cool%20completely.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt's%20ready%20to%20eat!%20I%20have%20to%20say...it's%20dense...but%20how%20many%20quick%20breads%20out%20there%20aren't?%20Although%20I%20might%20see%20what%20I%20can%20do%20about%20it%20a%20bit.%20If%20you%20wrap%20it%20up%20in%20plastic%20wrap%20and%20let%20it%20chill%20in%20the%20fridge%20overnight,%20the%20flavors%20come%20out%20more...and%20it's%20easier%20to%20cut.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo...after%20smelling%20and%20tasting%20my%20sweet%20little%20strawberry%20bread..I%20knew%20it%20needed%20something%20special.%20I%20love%20butter%20just%20as%20much%20as%20(and%20probably%20more%20than)%20the%20next%20guy.%20But%20we're%20talking%20about%20strawberries%20here%20people.%20And%20they%20deserve%20something%20gentle%20and%20sweet%20and%20something%20a%20bit%20coaxing....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELemon%20Honey%20Butter!!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20cup%20softened%20butter%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20tablespoons%20honey%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20tsp%20lemon%20zest%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20and%20roll%20up%20in%20plastic%20wrap.%20Refrigerate%20until%20firm%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESweet%20harmony%20makes%20for%20a%20happy%20pallet....and%20I%20love%20to%20see%20my%20strawberries%20sing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20my%20entry%20this%20week%20for%20Hearth%20and%20Soul%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
