,%20Hayashiraisu%20(Hashed%20Beef%20with%20Rice),%20Kareraisu%20(Curry%20Rice),%20Korokke%20(Croquettes),%20Hamb%C4%81gu%20(Hamburger%20Steak),%20Naporitan%20(Neapolitan%20Spaghetti)%20and%20R%C5%8Dru%20Kyabtesu%20(Cabbage%20Roll)%20but%20is%20there%20a%20term%20for%20the%20other%20way%20around?%20the%20Japanese-influenced%20cooking%20in%20the%20West?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhy%20am%20I%20asking%20this?%20well%20because%20I%20recently%20discovered%20a%20dish%20where%20a%20Western%20food%20like%20the%20humble%20steak%20was%20influenced%20by%20the%20Japanese%20cuisine.%20While%20most%20steaks%20are%20served%20with%20gravy%20made%20with%20beef%20drippings%20or%20cream%20sauce%20made%20with%20milk%20or%20cream%20this%20one%20is%20quite%20unique%20as%20it%20uses%20a%20popular%20Japanese%20ingredient%20to%20flavour%20its%20gravy,%20the%20miso.%20That%20might%20sound%20weird%20to%20you,%20even%20I%20was%20sceptical%20to%20try%20this%20the%20first%20time%20but%20it%20really%20works%20and%20it%20works%20beautifully.%20With%20the%20miso%20boasting%20tons%20of%20umami%20matching%20it%20with%20delicate%20mushrooms%20like%20the%20Enokitake%20and%20a%20bit%20of%20cream,%20it%20makes%20even%20the%20most%20boring%20steak%20shine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESteak%20in%20Mushroom%20Miso%20Sauce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20all%20marinade%20ingredients%20in%20a%20bowl%20then%20brush%20it%20over%20steak%20and%20asparagus.%20Set%20it%20aside.%20In%20a%20pan%20using%20medium%20heat%20add%20oil%20then%20cook%20the%20mushrooms%20for%202%20minutes.%20In%20a%20small%20bowl%20mix%20together%20chicken%20stock,%20cornstarch,%20shiro%20miso%20paste%20and%20sugar%20then%20pour%20it%20into%20the%20pan,%20bring%20it%20to%20a%20boil%20then%20cook%20over%20low%20heat%20until%20it%20thickens,%20season%20with%20freshly%20ground%20black%20pepper.%20Set%20it%20aside.%20Grill%20your%20steak%20according%20to%20your%20liking,%20once%20cooked%20let%20steaks%20rest%20for%205%20minutes.%20Grill%20the%20asparagus%20for%2090%20seconds%20on%20each%20side.%20Slice%20your%20steaks,%20place%20on%20a%20plate,%20top%20it%20with%20sauce,%20garnish%20with%20chopped%20chives%20then%20serve%20grilled%20asparagus%20on%20the%20side.%20%203.5.3226%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20Loading...%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
