%EF%BB%BF%EF%BB%BFThat%E2%80%99s%20how%20good%20this%20soup%20is.%20For%20about%20the%20last%20two%20months,%20I%20have%20had%20a%20very%20insistent%20craving%20for%20Chinese%20food.%20Or%20Thai.%20Or%20Vietnamese.%20Pretty%20much%20anything%20spicy%20with%20noodles.%20So,%20when%20I%20was%20browsing%20around%20at%20the%20Market%20on%20the%20Square%20(fabulous%20new%20shop%20in%20Carlinville%20that%20stocks%20only%20Illinois-made%20products)%20and%20I%20ran%20across%20some%20adorable%20little%20egg%20noodles%20called%20Soup%20Buds%20(by%20a%20company%20called%20Pasta%20Alley),%20I%20knew%20exactly%20what%20I%20wanted%20to%20do%20with%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESOUP.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20all,%20that%E2%80%99s%20what%20they%20are%20for...%20and%20it%20has%20been%20an%20excruciatingly%20long,%20vicious%20winter%20around%20here.%20In%20that%20kind%20of%20situation,%20you%20can%20never%20have%20too%20much%20soup.%20These%20little%20gems%20look%20like%20egg%20noodles%20that%20someone%20took%20a%20hole%20punch%20to.%20Less%20than%20a%20half%20inch%20in%20diameter%20when%20fully%20cooked,%20they%20fill%20up%20with%20the%20broth%20from%20the%20soup,%20but%20stay%20slightly%20firm,%20giving%20you%20a%20wonderful%20mouthful%20of%20noodly%20goodness,%20without%20the%20treachery%20of%20the%20random%20noodle%20that%20inevitably%20flings%20itself%20over%20the%20edge%20of%20the%20spoon,%20scattering%20its%20juices%20on%20your%20chin%20(or%20shirt)%20in%20a%20last-ditch%20effort%20to%20escape.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow,%20set%20on%20my%20path%20to%20a%20steaming%20pot%20of%20soup,%20I%20started%20searching%20for%20recipes.%20I%20go%20through%20this%20several%20times%20every%20winter.%20Looking%20for%20something%20new,%20something%20flavorful%20and%20earth%20shattering....%20and%20without%20fail%20I%20seem%20to%20end%20up%20with....chicken%20soup.%20No%20matter%20how%20good%20the%20recipe%20claims%20to%20be,%20regardless%20of%20how%20enticing%20the%20ingredient%20list%20appears,%20it%20always%20just%20ends%20up%20as%20being%20some%20generic%20chicken%20soup.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20wanted%20more.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20when%20I%20ran%20across%20this%20recipe,%20suffice%20it%20to%20say%20I%20remained%20skeptical.%20Nevertheless,%20I%20trudged%20ahead,%20making%20a%20few%20minor%20tweaks%20here%20and%20there.%20And%20what%20did%20I%20end%20up%20with?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESheer%20bliss.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20hubs%20came%20in%20from%20feeding%20the%20dogs%20and%20found%20me%20hunkered%20down%20over%20the%20stove%20with%20a%20spoon%20in%20hand,%20eating%20straight%20out%20of%20the%20pot.%20It%20started%20innocently%20enough,%20with%20a%20taste%20to%20check%20the%20seasoning....but%20you%20know,%20first%20tastes%20can%20be%20deceiving,%20so%20you%20should%20always%20check%20twice.%20But%20in%20the%20second%20bite%20I%20really%20didn%E2%80%99t%20get%20any%20chicken,%20so%20I%20tried%20again.%20And%20then%20I%20wanted%20to%20make%20sure%20it%20was%20seasoned%20consistently%20throughout....%20and%20I%20might%20as%20well%20double%20check%20those%20noodles%20to%20make%20sure%20they%20were%20thoroughly%20cooked....%20Well,%20it%20was%20shameful,%20really.%20I%20ate%20enough%20of%20it%20standing%20there%20at%20the%20stove%20that%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20need%20to%20actually%20fix%20myself%20a%20bowl.%20I%20was%20full.%20And%20gloriously%20so.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESadly,%20I%20was%20so%20enthralled%20with%20my%20brothy%20discovery%20that%20I%20completely%20missed%20the%20recommended%20garnishes.%20Imagine%20how%20much%20more%20pleased%20I%20was%20when%20I%20dragged%20the%20pot%20back%20out%20again%20this%20morning%20(yes,%20at%205:00%20am)%20and%20fixed%20myself%20a%20bowl,%20complete%20with%20savory%20garnish,%20and%20had%20another%20serving%20for%20breakfast.%20Yes,%20you%20heard%20me%20right.%20And%20then%20ladled%20up%20another%20generous%20serving%20to%20take%20to%20work%20with%20me%20for%20lunch.%20I%20see%20no%20reason%20to%20ever%20make%20another%20kind%20of%20chicken%20soup%20again.%20Ever.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere%20is%20the%20recipe%20(originally%20from%20America%E2%80%99s%20Test%20Kitchen),%20with%20my%20changes.%20I%20strongly%20urge%20you%20to%20make%20this%20at%20home.%20And%20eat%20it%20standing%20over%20the%20strove%20with%20a%20spoon.%20And%20maybe%20for%20breakfast...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpicy%20Asian%20Chicken%20Noodle%20Soup%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eadapted%20from%20America's%20Test%20Kitchen%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBring%20broth,%20soy%20sauce,%20mirin,%20ginger,%20and%20chili%20garlic%20sauce%20to%20a%20boil%20in%20a%20large%20saucepan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20egg%20noodles%20(if%20using)%20and%20cook%20until%20almost%20done.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20cut%20up%20chicken%20to%20the%20pot%20and%20simmer,%20covered,%20over%20medium-low%20heat%20until%20chicken%20is%20warmed%20through.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20using%20Ramen%20noodles,%20add%20the%20dried%20noodles%20into%20the%20broth%20and%20cook,%20stirring%20occasionally,%20until%20they're%20just%20about%20cooked.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStir%20in%20th
