.%20%20I%20found%20many%20interesting,%20delicious%20recipes%20yet%20not%20very%20complicated%20in%20her%20blog.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20first%20recipe%20I%20tried%20for%20this%20series%20was%20Aval%20Kozhukkattai%20-%20Steamed%20balls%20from%20beaten%20rice.%20It%20made%20a%20quick%20and%20filling%20meal.%20The%20preparation%20is%20similar%20to%20upma%20kozhukkattai.%20When%20I%20first%20saw%20the%20recipe,%20my%20thoughts%20were%20how%20different%20is%20it%20going%20to%20be%20from%20aval%20upma/puli%20aval.%20The%20ingredients%20were%20almost%20the%20same%20except%20that%20tamarind%20or%20an%20equivalent%20is%20not%20used%20here.%20I%20am%20glad%20I%20tried%20it%20since%20it%20was%20so%20different%20from%20upma%20and%20had%20a%20unique%20taste.%20It%20was%20worth%20trying.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20need%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGreen%20chilly%20-%201%20no%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECurry%20leaves%20-%20few%20sprigs%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20used%20the%20rose%20matta%20aval%20which%20is%20very%20tasty%20and%20has%20a%20thick%20texture.%20To%20get%20one%20cup%20of%20coarsely%20powedered%20aval,%20take%202%20cups%20of%20aval.%20Make%20sure%20you%20don't%20grind%20it%20fine%20else%20the%20kozhukkattais%20will%20not%20have%20the%20right%20texture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETake%20a%20kadai.%20Heat%20oil%20and%20add%20the%20seasoning%20ingredients.%20Add%20water%20and%20salt.%20When%20water%20starts%20boiling,%20add%20the%20powdered%20aval.%20Mix%20well.%20Cook%20on%20low%20heat%20till%20the%20water%20is%20fully%20absorbed%20and%20resembles%20upma.%20Add%20grated%20coconut%20and%20mix%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpread%20the%20cooked%20mix%20on%20a%20plate%20to%20cool.%20Spape%20the%20dough%20into%20balls%20and%20steam%20cook%20for%205%20minutes.%20Jayashree%20has%20%20done%20this%20in%20microwave%20and%20I%20chose%20to%20do%20it%20on%20stove%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20kozhukkattais%20tasted%20good%20on%20its%20own.%20You%20can%20serve%20it%20with%20any%20chutney%20as%20dip%20or%20sprinkle%20some%20chutney%20powder%20on%20it%20and%20serve.%20I%20got%2011%20nos%20of%20the%20size%20shown%20in%20the%20picture.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
