- Drain the brown lentils cover with boiling water and boil for 15 min till beginning to soften. Drain.
- Cook the onion garlic ginger and chilli in the ghee till soft and lightly coloured.
- Add in the cinnamon cloves bay leaves and turmeric.
- Cook for 2 min stirring.
- Add in the liquid removed rice and lentils mix well then add in water to cover by 3cm.
- Bring to the boil then cook on very low heat untilthe liquid has been absorbed about 20 min. Stir in the minced spring onion.
- Remove cinnamon stick before serving.
- Serves 6
