  • 2 tbsp. bacon fat or possibly fat from steak
  • 2/3 c. minced onion
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, pressed
  • 2 pound round steak
  • 1 (4 ounce.) can mushrooms
  • 1 c. cultured lowfat sour cream
  • 1 (8 ounce.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tbsp. or possibly more Worcestershire sauce

  1. Cut steak into 1/8 inch strips. Heat fat and brown meat. When nicely browned add in onion and garlic. Then add in all of the remaining ingredients including the liquid from the mushrooms. Simmer a few min then transfer to a covered baking dish. Bake slowly one hour or possibly so. Serve over wild rice. Serves 12.
