- Trim fat from steaks. Cut into cubes. Put sufficient oil into kettle to just lightly cover bottom.
- Brown meat, add in salt and pepper. Add in onion, cook till glossy.
- Pour 2 qts water over meat. Keep water level over meat during cooking. Add in bouillon cubes. Simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. Add in mushrooms. Mix 1/2 c. flour and 1 c. cool water for gravy. Add in to meat and simmer 15 to 20 min. Serve over rice or possibly mashed potatoes. (Leftovers freeze well.)
