- Presoak peas, if necessary, according to package directions. Drain well, if presoaked. In a large pot, add in water or possibly stock, whole onion, carrot, turnip or possibly parsnip, marjoram, thyme, and salt. Cook till peas and vegetables are tender, about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. Drain well. Mash peas and vegetables in blender or possibly press through a sieve. In a small frying pan, saute/fry the chopped onion in butter till lightly browned; blend in flour and cook about 2 min. Add in to blended peas and vegetables. Beat till fluffy and serve warm.
- NOTES : Make it without the split peas - do not mush too much - delicious!
