.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESam%20lives%20way%20up%20north%20and%20I'm%20on%20the%20south%20coast%20so%20we%20don't%20really%20get%20to%20meet%20up%20that%20often.%20We%20decided%20to%20meet%20up%20in%20London%20for%20the%20day%20to%20start%20planning%20her%20hen%20do%20and%20generally%20talk%20wedding%20stuff.%20It%20all%20started%20at%20Busaba%20Eathai,%20in%20Piccadily,%20London...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESam%20had%20been%20to%20this%20London%20chain%20before%20and%20raved%20about%20the%20food,%20so%20suggested%20it%20for%20lunch.%20It%20was%20pretty%20empty%20when%20we%20turned%20up,%20even%20though%20it%20was%20half%2012%20on%20a%20Saturday,%20though%20I%20guess%20London%20city%20won't%20have%20woken%20up%20properly%20yet.%20There's%20an%20instant%20calming%20atmosphere%20as%20soon%20as%20you%20walk%20in,%20with%20the%20incense%20burning,%20low%20lit%20lighting%20and%20hushed%20tones.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20restaurant%20is%20huge%20with%20large%20square%20tables%20that%20seat%20up%20to%20about%2010%20people.%20As%20the%20place%20fills%20up,%20diners%20are%20seated%20with%20other%20diners%20in%20a%20friendly%20casual%20manner.%20So%20perhaps%20not%20the%20best%20place%20to%20go%20in%20the%20evening%20for%20an%20intimate%20date%20(unless%20you%20don't%20mind%20sharing%20it%20with%20a%20bunch%20of%20strangers).%20There%20is%20window%20seating%20around%20two%20walls%20of%20the%20restaurant%20though,%20which%20is%20where%20Sam%20and%20I%20were%20seated.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20menu%20is%20nicely%20varied%20with%20noodles,%20rice%20dishes,%20curries,%20stir-fries%20and%20salads%20and%20very%20decently%20priced%20too.%20Sam%20and%20I%20decided%20to%20share%20a%20couple%20of%20sides%20for%20starters,%20with%20a%20main%20(each%20of%20course)%20to%20follow.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20were%20surprised%20but%20secretly%20happy%20to%20see%20all%204%20dishes%20arrive%20at%20once.%20It%20hadn't%20occurred%20to%20either%20of%20us%20to%20specify%20the%20sides%20to%20come%20first.%20It%20was%20probably%20a%20good%20thing%20though%20because%20this%20is%20a%20place%20that%20is%20very%20generous%20with%20their%20portions...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYes%20folks,%20these%20were%20just%20the%20sides.%20I%20think%20if%20Sam%20and%20I%20had%20just%20chomped%20our%20way%20through%20these%20first,%20there's%20no%20way%20we%20would%20have%20had%20room%20for%20mains%20as%20well.%20The%20Thai%20calamari%20was%20gorgeously%20soft%20and%20moreish,%20with%20a%20light%20ginger%20and%20peppery%20kick.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20Pandan%20chicken%20was%20er,%20a%20bit%20confusing%20for%20us%20both.%20Well,%20it%20was%20Sam%20who%20put%20a%20question%20mark%20over%20it,%20which%20completely%20threw%20me:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESam:%20Are%20you%20supposed%20to%20eat%20the%20leaves%20as%20well?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMe:%20No,%20of%20course%20not!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESam:%20Really,%20are%20you%20sure?%20It%20looks%20like%20you%20could%20eat%20them...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMe:%20Hmm,%20well...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESam:%20(nibbles%20on%20a%20bit%20of%20leaf)%20Yeh,%20see,%20it%20tastes%20ok!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMe:%20(timidly%20nibbles%20a%20bit%20of%20leaf%20also)%20Hm,%20ok,%20I%20guess...try%20a%20bit%20with%20the%20chicken%20as%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESam:%20(bites%20right%20into%20a%20chicken%20parcel,%20leaf%20n%20all)...Eugh,%20um,%20yeh,%20no%20it%20doesn't%20work!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELuckily,%20the%20main%20was%20much%20more%20straightforward%20to%20eat.%20I%20love%20the%20way%20Thai%20noodle%20dishes%20are%20presented,%20with%20all%20the%20ingredients%20layered%20separately.%20You%20do%20well%20to%20eat%20with%20your%20eyes%20here.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESen%20chan%20pad%20Thai%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20pad%20Thai%20dish%20has%20prawns,%20peanuts,%20green%20mango%20and%20slivers%20of%20crabmeat.%20Once%20you've%20admired%20the%20beauty%20of%20the%20dish,%20you%20have%20to%20mix%20it%20all%20up%20to%20appreciate%20all%20these%20different%20flavours%20together.%20It's%20so%20good!%20I%20unwittingly%20managed%20to%20up%20my%20spice%20intake%20too,%20as%20I%20didn't%20realise%20it%20was%20going%20to%20be%20covered%20in%20chilli%20flakes%20(despite%20there%20being%20a%20's'%20spicy%20symbol%20in%20the%20menu).%20Hurrah,%20I'm%20growing!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESam%20and%20I%20felt%20like%20sleepy%20lions%20by%20the%20end%20of%20the%20meal%20%E2%80%93%20satisfied%20with%20full%20bellies,%20and%20musing%20over%20the%20idea%20of%20eating%20here%20again%20very%20soon.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJust%20don't%20eat%20the%20Pandan%20leaves%20;-)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBusaba%20Eathai%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E35%20Panton%20Street%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELondon%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESW1Y%204EA%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E020%207930%200088%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ewww.busaba.com%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOther%20restaurants%20you%20might%20be%20interested%20to%20try%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
