%20But%20this%20is%20a%20lovely%20way%20to%20feed%20people%20on%20a%20Friday%20night%20%20plenty%20of%20salads%20and%20flatbreads,%20it%20feels%20instantly%20social%20digging%20into%20a%20plate%20together%20and%20since%20we%20are%20currently%20lacking%20a%20dining%20table%20its%20easier%20to%20eat%20from%20a%20coffee%20table%20no%20need%20to%20carve%20just%20scoop%20and%20stuff%20in%20your%20mouth%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20wanted%20to%20cook%20lamb%20with%20pomegranate%20molasses%20for%20ages.%20I%20just%20never%20quite%20got%20it%20together%20when%20living%20in%20Bristol%20where%20the%20tiny%20store%20round%20the%20corner%20from%20me%20sold%20litres%20of%20the%20stuff.%20%20However%20on%20moving%20up%20here%20I%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20find%20it%20anywhere%20I%20was%20debating%20making%20my%20own%20and%20needed%20to%20wait%20until%20pomegranates%20came%20into%20season%20in%20Sept/Oct%20then%20I%20wandered%20into%20the%20heaven%20that%20is%20Kaya%20Food%20Centre%20with%20two%20stores%20in%20Central%20Nottingham%20%20(Alfreton%20Road%20&%20Upper%20Parliament%20St).%20Kaya%20%20which%20stocks%20a%20massive%20range%20of%20world%20foods%20every%20dried%20grain,pasta,%20cheese,%20%20olives%20,%20flatbreads%20as%20well%20as%20Halal%20Meats,%20Fresh%20Fruit%20and%20Vegetables.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20got%20a%20bargain%20piece%20of%20shoulder%20of%20lamb%20from%20the%20butcher,%20it%20was%20the%20leftover%20cut%20%20from%20a%20rolled%20shoulder%20%20still%20plenty%20of%20meat%20left%20but%20not%20the%20most%20attractive%20cut%20before%20cooking%20,%20all%20sticky%20out%20bones%20and%20ribs.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20this%20recipe%20would%20work%20with%20a%20whole%20shoulder%20or%20a%20leg%20of%20lamb.%20The%20sourness%20of%20the%20pomegranate%20cuts%20through%20the%20fatty%20lamb%20and%20is%20sweet%20with%20the%20roasted%20onions%20and%20garlic%20making%20a%20perfect%20gravy.%20I%20keep%20using%20the%20same%20basic%20premise%20for%20these%20slow%20cook%20cuts%20,%20slow%20cooking%20first%20then%20a%20roast%20to%20crisp%20the%20outside%20and%20make%20juices%20go%20sticky.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20pomegranates%20come%20into%20season%20I%20would%20probably%20scatter%20some%20fresh%20pomegranate%20seeds%20into%20the%20juice%20before%20serving.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20the%20lamb%20joint%20from%20the%20juices,%20pour%20the%20juices%20into%20a%20bowl%20leave%20for%20half%20an%20hour%20to%20allow%20the%20fat%20to%20move%20to%20the%20top.%20Skim%20off%20the%20fat%20and%20discard.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EReturn%20the%20lamb%20and%20skimmed%20juice%20to%20the%20oven%20in%20a%20roasting%20tray,%20You%20can%20drizzle%20over%20some%20extra%20pomegranate%20molasses%20at%20this%20point%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20for%2030%20minutes%20at%20190degC%20until%20the%20juices%20are%20bubbling%20and%20lamb%20is%20browned%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe%20by%20slicing%20the%20lamb%20into%20chunks%20on%20a%20large%20platter%20covered%20with%20the%20juices%20and%20caramalised%20onions%20and%20garlic%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlthough%20I%20may%20cook%20got%20for%20big%20hunks%20of%20meat%20I%20always%20want%20lots%20of%20salad%20and%20with%20autumn%20here%20are%20two%20of%20my%20favourites%20for%20those%20vegetables%20delicious%20wrapped%20with%20the%20lamb%20in%20strips%20of%20lavash%20(%20flat%20bread)%20thin%20as%20parchment%20paper%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoasted%20Cauliflower%20with%20Pepper%20Preserved%20Lemon%20and%20Black%20Olive%20Salad%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20a%20salad%20that%20%20uses%20all%20my%20fridge%20goodies%20to%20create%20a%20bright%20sunny%20salad%20even%20in%20winter.%20%20Salty%20black%20olives,%20home%20preserved%20lemons%20%20,%20roasted%20red%20peppers%20(%20I%20buy%20bags%20of%20red%20peppers%20when%20they%20are%20glutting%20and%20roast%20them%20in%20the%20oven%20.%20They%20keep%20for%20weeks%20in%20a%20jar%20with%20olives%20and%20olive%20oil%20,%20I%20do%20the%20same%20with%20roasted%20garlic)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECut%20the%20cauliflower%20into%20small%20floret%20,%20place%20on%20a%20baking%20sheet%20and%20season%20with%20paprika%20and%20salt%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDrizzle%20with%20olive%20oil%20,%20roast%20at%20190degc%20for%2025%20minutes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20with%20chopped%20preserved%20lemon%20,%20black%20olives,%20roasted%20red%20peppers%20&%20fresh%20parsley%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDress%20with%20olive%20oil%20and%20lemon%20juice.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBeetroot%20and%20Mint%20Yogurt%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECut%20the%20beetroot%20into%20medium%20chunks%20,%20sprinkle%20with%20cumin%20seeds%20and%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDrizzle%20with%20olive%20oil%20and%20roast%20for%2025%20minutes%20at%20190degC%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20with%20yogurt%20and%20fresh%20chopped%20mint%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
