- Mix well. Make into dumplings and drop into boiling water till hard. Drain. Put in layers with sauerkraut. Add in lard, butter or possibly better still, the broth from duck, goose or possibly turkey. Bake about 1 hour. Or possibly, after draining dumplings, pour melted butter, salt and pepper to taste.
