- 100 gm plain flour
- 100 gm medium oatmeal
- 1 x level tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 1 x level tsp grnd ginger
- 50 gm margarine
- 100 gm soft brown sugar
- 100 gm treacle or possibly syrup or possibly mixed
- 1 x egg
- 3 Tbsp. lowfat milk
Инструкции
- Line the small roasting tin with bake o glide or possibly baking parchment.
- In a mixing bowl put the margarine sugar and treacle or possibly syrup.
- Stand bowl on the aga till the fat is melted and the sugar mixes in well.
- Sieve the flour bicarbonate of soda and ginger together into a mixing bowl.
- Stir in the oatmeal.
- Beat together the egg and lowfat milk.
- When the syrup mix is melted together pour into the flour.
- Beat in the egg and lowfat milk to make a smooth batter.
- Pour into the prepared tin.
- For the two oven aga hang the roasting tin on the bottom set of runners of the roasting oven.
- Slide in the cool shelf two runners above. For the four oven aga bake in the baking oven on the bottom set of runners.
- Bake for 25 to 30 min till risen slightly shrunk from the sides of the tin and is hard to the touch in the middle.
- Cold in the tin before cutting into squares.
- A variation on the gingerbread theme this is ideal for Bonfire Night hot and spicy. Like gingerbread this improves with keeping in a tin for about a week.
