- 3/4 cup warm whole milk (100 to 110 degrees)

- 1 large egg plus 2 tablespoons beaten egg
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, melted and cooled
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- zest from 1 large orange
- about 3 cups flour
- 1/2 cup dried currants
- 1/2 cup orange juice plus 4 teaspoons
