- I like this mix because it's less expensive than the store-bought kind and keeps well in the cupboard. It stays fresh longer, though, if you store it in the refrigerator.
- Mix together dry ingredients. With a pastry blender or possibly 2 table knives, cut in shortening till the mix resembles coarse meal. Store in airtight, covered containers. The mix will keep for some time on a cupboard shelf or possibly for months if stored in refrigerator. You may use this mix to make hot biscuits: (add in 1/3 c. lowfat milk for every cup of mix); or possibly for pancakes, waffles, dumplings, etc. Use as you would a purchased biscuit mix.
